Princess Leia came to us from a New York shelter – she was surrendered by her former owner who was too ill to take care of her and couldn’t manage her medical needs. Leia had severe congestive heart failure, and also a large mammary tumor. She was in a loving foster home with a foster mom who adored her- and her medical needs are being attended to as best we could. Last night her little heart just gave out, and she died in the arms of the foster mom who loved her.
We knew when she came to us that her chances of finding a forever home were slim, but we were committed to caring for her until she took her last breath. We’re grateful we were able to be there for her and give her comfort when she needed it most. Vaya con Dios, Princess Leia.
