FOHARI is a 501(c) non-profit dedicated to rescuing dogs, cats and other small animals from high kill shelters

We adopted our dog Porter from FOHARI. We worked mostly with the foster, Kate, who is amazing!! I appreciated how we didn't have to go through tons of unnecessary steps to do the application and complete the adoption, as it is competitive during COVID to get a pup! Porter is the sweetest, Kate brought a harness and leash when we adopted him, and even a month of Sentinel Spectrum for heart worm prevention. Thank you FOHARI for our amazing, sweet Porter, we are in love!!

This was the first time my husband and I have adopted, so we went to meet a beagle at a PetSmart adoption day. In the end, we weren't chosen, but Lisa let us know about a terrier mix from TX that she felt would be a better fit for our home and lifestyle. There were several transport delays (again, not FOHA's fault! Our dog had to be treated for parasites before making the trip to New England), but when we finally got her it was all worth it.

FOHA in RI is the only way to go when looking to adopt a small dog. The dogs are all lovingly cared for in foster homes while waiting to go to their forever home. We were impressed at how much they cared about the appropriate placement of each dog. It was a wonderful adoption experience. Izzy, our new little Chi mix, is amazing. She has already won us over heart and soul. We would definitely adopt from FOHA in RI again! xoxo
